Just got an e-mail from SWaT's Creator, Director, Choreographer Ms. Cynthia Bradley -
Your last chance to see “Shag with a Twist” in LA is this Saturday, June 25th!

Don’t miss the opportunity to see this exciting new show that critics have described as “reinventing theater,” “hip,” “a must see,” and “great fun”.

As an added bonus, the show’s creator, director and choreographer will be performing in this final show and artist, Josh Agle, aka, “Shag” will be in attendance!

If you haven’t seen “Shag” yet, this is one not to be missed. If you have already been, see it again, it’s worth seeing again!

$15 off all ticket levels available by using the code “Friends” when making reservations.

The show starts at 8 PM at the Los Angeles Theatre Center Downtown.

Come join the party!

Call (888) 515-SHAG or log on to http://www.shagwithatwist.com/.

Good seats are still available, but going fast!

Pick up some out of print Shag serigraphs at DvA Gallery's "Anniversary Tiki Party" Group Show (if anyone is inclined to purchase the 'Leeteg Tribute' for me, i'd be forever grateful).

Shag's contribution to Copro/Nason's "Bergamot Invasion" Group Show.

ShagMart's News page has been updated so you can get your own "Little Inferno"...

...or "Last Table In Vegas."

i just bought a set of the "Last Table In Vegas" playing cards that's now on sale.

There's also a plug for the Disney Anniversary merch coming out this weekend and a hint at La Luz 's show in September.

Here's a link to some fotos from a great looking tiki show, "Paradirama," in Sete, France.

Getting a bit lazy with the onset of summer (new bicycle and i'm thinking of becoming a naturist if i can get over my Zemmiphobia), but a new poll is up and here's the results from the last one:

1. Adventureland - 57.89%
2. Tomorrowland - 31.58%
3. Fantasyland - 10.53%
4 (tie). Frontierland - 0.00%
4 (tie). Main Street U.S.A. - 0.00%
My personal favorite? Fantasyland. It reminds me of when my sister and i made our mother vomit her guts out on the Tea-Cup ride back in 1978 (one of the few times we worked together as a team to accomplish anything).

Speaking of being lazy, here's the results from a long ended eBay auction -

Tidbits from Copro/Nason Gallery -

WHERE: Copro/Nason Gallery, 2525 Michigan Ave T5, Santa Monica, Ca. 90404

WHAT: Bergamot Invasion w/ Cannibal Flower - Group show - preview of Copro/Nason's New Gallery

The Bergamot Invasion is here and now. After years in the shadows of the conventional art world, Copro/Nason is helping this underground, and cutting edge new art take another step into the mainstream. This enigmatic form of expression has been called Lowbrow, Pop Surrealism, Alternative, Outsider Art and many other things. It represents the world turned upside down. CoproNason Gallery is turning it over one more time so it will be right side up.

From the pit of Culver City we’re moving on up to a deluxe gallery on the west-side. Bergamot Station is ground zero in our quest to invade the mainstream and give it a shot in the arm with some potent visions and illuminated brush strokes.

This location features a main gallery, secondary gallery, and small print and bookstore. Come experience this work in progress for a preview into the future.

Artists included are Alex Gross, Andrew Brandou, Anthony Ausgang, Audrey Kawasaki, Blaine Fontana, Brian Viveros, Charles Wish, Chet Zar, Dave Pressler, Dennis Larkins, Elizabeth Lopez, Eric Sonntag, Esau Andrews, Gary Baseman, Isaac Pierro, Isabel Samaras, James Peterson, Joe Ledbetter, Joe Vaux, Jophen Stein, Keith Weesner, Kevin Peterson, Korin Faught, L. Croskey, Lola, Luke Chueh, Matthew Bone, Michelle Waterman. Mike Davis, Miles Thompson, Naoto Hattori, Natalia Fabia, Nathan Spoor, Pamela Jaeger, Shag, Thomas Han, Ver Mar, Vincent
Calenzo and many more!!

Also, check out Mike Leavitt's Shag at Leavitt & Charles Kraft's current show @ Copro/Nason.

News from M-Modern in Palm Springs -

1. They have a blog (welcome to the club)

2. Here's a link to "The Castaways" from the "Sneaky Tiki" Group Show (sold for $8,000.00)

3. Shag will "most likely" be taking part in the upcoming (09 July) "Tribute to Dionysus Records" Group Show

Please join us at M Modern Gallery on Saturday, July 9th from 8:00 pm until 11:00 pm for our group art show entitled "DIONYSUS". This is a tribute to DIONYSUS RECORDS featuring painted album & CD cover art originals and mock-ups from over 30 artists. "DIONYSUS" will be a visually and aurally stimulating group art exhibition dedicated to the record label of the same name famous for garage, surf, punk, rockabilly, lounge, exotica, insanity and even a little jazz music. Started in 1984 by legendary DJ LEE (Lee Joseph), Dionysus Records captured our hearts and ears with amazing music and cover artwork by many of our favorite artists today. This exhibit and party is being curated by ANDREW BRANDOU (aka HOWDY PARDNER) and will feature over 30 artists.

Shag did many an album cover for the label which also released some of the Tiki Tones and Huntington Cads oeuvre...

The latest edition of the Hint Mint newsletter has a short Q&A with Shag.

The Minneapolis-St. Paul Star Tribune had an article about Shag on Monday (13 June) to coincide with Ox-Op 's "Push Your Luck."

(Need a login to see the article? Just use "BaronV" as login and password. i was sneaky - i said that i live at Prince's Paisley Park Studios!)

Link to an article (in French) about the "Paradirama" tiki show in Sete, France. Hope the show poster will eventually be available for purchase...

Just got back from my sister's wedding and what do i see -

Saw on Tiki Central that Shag did the poster for "Paradirama" going from 18 June to 30 October in Sete (south of France).

-----

The 'Pop-A-Razzi' Group Show opens today (Friday, 03 June) at the DC Gallery in Denver. Shag's contribution, "Three Monkeys," has already been sold for $3,800.00.

-----

Pic's for the upcoming 'Push Your Luck' show at Ox-Op are on-line with a great looking selection of merch (i like the Qee).

"Last Table In Vegas" from Roq La Rue's 'Americana' Group Show will be the show print -

(i'd prefer an image from the actual show, say, "Queen of the Strip.")

The Minneapolis-St Paul Star Tribune has a short blurb about the show.

-----

"The Little Inferno" from ... (forgot the show title, but it was at Copro-Nason) should be on sale at the end of May (or not) at Shagmart.

LONG DELAYED UPDATE - It was from "Night of the Tiki"... i should've known that!

-----

The latest issue of Juxtapoz (Futura 2000 on the cover) has an article/review of "Shag With A Twist."

-----

The upcoming "Shag: The Art of Josh Agle" book from Chronicle is listed on Amazon, with a release date of 30 October.

Again, this is no way a recommendation for Amazon - here's a link to Froogle and don't forget to support your local independent book dealer (being in Denver, i recommend Tattered Cover).

i'll add pictures later this weekend...
